Mothers Help -
Explained
A Mother's help has usually little or
no experience in childcare and works under the direct supervision of
the mother in the home. The mother's help would be expected to carry
out nursery duties and light housework. In many respects becoming a
mother's helps is like doing a 'nanny apprenticeship'. A mothers
help should NOT have any sole
charge responsibility. Expect to pay a Mothers help in excess of the
N.M.W. as shown below
An experienced mother's help/nanny is someone who has worked with
children for at least 2 years/ or is qualified to NVQ Level II in
Childcare or similar standard. Expect to pay an experienced
Mothers help/nanny from £5 - £7 per hour net.
The salary of a mother's help would depend on the experience
and qualification of the person. Time off is normally two days per
week and a minimum of four weeks paid holiday per year plus bank
holidays
